Random Thoughts

Ok these arw my random thoughts/ questions about Enterprise.

Why is Capt. Archer leading away teams or placing himself in dangerous situations? Isn't the first officer suppopsed to do this?

I wish everyone would quit picking at ENT for not following the 'contiuity time line' every show has messed with the 'time line' of ST.

What purpose dose Mayweather serve?????? He does absolutly nothing. Nothing. We see him drive the ship. So why not replace him with someone who does something?

How come every vulcan wears loose functional garments except T'Pol?

What is wrong with the opening song? I think it fits the idea of Enterprise. I know some trekkers hate it cause it has words. So what? I like it.

I love the show so much. It is now my second favorite Star Trek show. DS9 is my all time fav show.

I like how Dr. Phlox actually cures people. Not like on TNG where Crusher had to go everywhere to find some cure or new tech.

I love how they eat 'real' food. Made by a real chef. Not Neelix's garbage or replicated stuff.

I love the concept of Hoshi interpreting everything. I never did like the universal translator much. I understand how it can traslate languages encountered before. But new languages? That is streching it a bit.

Is the armory officer like the tactical officer seen in other ST shows? Does Malcolm do security also? Or does he just do weapons?

Ok now on to my favorite part Engineering and Trip.....*drools*

If the ship can theoreticaly go to warp 5 how come it never can?

I like the new warp drive design it looks much more 'normal' and 'functional' than the two story warp core seen in TNG and VOY.

Trip does such a good job keeping his engines repaied and in good order.

Ok enough ranting for now...............

I wasn't being so picky about the timeline. They do have a convenient excuse setting this show in the past, backdating the timeline. Maybe the ships were green, then they found titanium and they became grey. Then more advanced metal made it green once more.

Mayweather's scene with the joystick was tense and I liked his role in the show. I expect him to get a character show soon. Remember, TNG never really filled the role of the ship driver.

Malcom's role is weapons, aka "Fire the torpedos!". While on today's show he COMMENTED about security, I've never actually seen him handle that.

Theoretically, Enterprise can go Warp 5. Didn't they last season sometime? It is an absolute boundary of the ship's structual integrity. The Enterprise-D's TTS (Theoretical Top Speed) is Warp 9.9, but then you start to lose inertial dampners and things start blowing up and everything starts shaking and Geordi starts complaing.

Glad someone else here is talking.

Well I was not picking on your post. This is just about Enterprise in general. All the shows so far. Enterprise got up to warp 4.59 I beleive. So if Malcolm is only weapons then is there scurity on the ship? Does Malcolm also do tactical stuff? On the other shows tactical is weapons as well as other things.
I remember on a message board somewhere at some time me and memory don't get along someone else asked about malcolm's specific role. Their theory, and I agree that it's plausible, is that they didn't really have a security team then (they might not have thought it necessary) and that Malcolm's tactical position warped (ha ha, I used the word "warped") into the security position. 'Cause we don't have a tactical person in the later shows. Makes sense to me; kinda neat too--poor malcolm, whom I adore btw, is working a position that won't exist in a hundred years.

I like the song too :) i didn't at first, but it's grown on me. I think the verses are very pretty, but the chorus gets on my nerves. If anyone remembers (shudder) Richard Marx, the chorus reminds me of Richard Marx. I love the whole "It's been a long road..." part. Very fitting. It makes Enterprise really feel as though it fits into our history. Cool.

I think Archer goes on missions 'cause he's just that kinda guy. He doesn't stay back even if it's in the best interest. Plus, Starfleet might not have developed that rule about captain's staying on board.

I love the way they're allowed to interfere with the cultures and situations. I love the other star treks, but it did frustrate me how they didn't believe in alternating a bad situation because it would be tampering with natural selection. I mean, hello---if people hadn't tampered on earth--the Nazis would be in power,t here might still be slaves, Amnesty Int'l wouldn't exist, neither would Peta or Save the Rainforest. I'm all for interrupting when there needs to be interrupting...

Those are all excellent questions. :) Lola
The "Captain stays on the ship" came in Picard's time, Kirk always went on planet missions.

And yes, I think so far Mayweather is useless too. :)
Yea! I am not the only one who dislikes Mayweather!!! Heh. I don't know why but I do not like him. Now Trip on the other hand........*sighs*
He seems pretty ...superfluous, really. He's just there to do a job and there is nothing interesting about him...

But Trip...... *drools*
Yeah but the security part still bugs me. Cause on one episode when the Suliban take over ENT Trip or Malcolm I can't remember which one orders security to the docking port and T'Pol overrides the order. That and this weeks episode are the only ones where I beleive security was mentioned. That is why I asked. It just seems odd. I kinda agree with the non interference thing. But if they start going from planet to planet saying I am god do things my way I hope Starfleet would do something.
Okay, just a few responses. Cause I felt like it. I agree with most of your statements... but I like to make comments!

What is wrong with the opening song? I think it fits the idea of Enterprise. I know some trekkers hate it cause it has words. So what? I like it.

So do I! Everyone I talk to thinks that it's crap, but I really love it. Especially the latest version as it's a little thicker.

I like how Dr. Phlox actually cures people. Not like on TNG where Crusher had to go everywhere to find some cure or new tech.

I hated that woman she was so annoying.

Trip does such a good job keeping his engines repaied and in good order.

And looks darn good in the process!
